Society of Mary - Marianists

The Society of Mary, the Marianists, is a religious congregation of brothers and priests who seek to grow in holiness as sons of Mary and to serve the Church as brothers of Christ. The order aims to make family spirit the distinctive mark of its communities, imitating Mary's faith, humility, simplicity, and hospitality.

Chaminade High School was the first Marianist school on Long Island at its founding in 1930. It is named in honor of Blessed William Joseph Chaminade (1761-1850), who created the Society of Mary in an effort to re-Christianize post-revolutionary France. Since 1987, the Marianist Province of Meribah has grown to include three schools -- Kellenberg Memorial High School, and a grammar school, St. Martin de Porres Marianist School, established in 2004.

The brothers also author a daily blog: www.intothedeepblog.net.
