Faith Formation
As a Catholic, Marianist school, Chaminade is rooted in a rich tradition of faith. Students practice their Catholic identity through prayer, Mass, retreats, and service. The cornerstone of a Marianist education rests on the pursuit of a life in Christ, through which our young men aim to be practitioners of faith and fortitude.

Retreat Program
Mary serves as the inspiration for these activities; her message at the Wedding Feast at Cana is to “Do whatever He tells you.” (John 2:5) All students have the opportunity to grow in faith by participating in retreats led by our Campus Ministry staff.
Each year, every student attends a day retreat with his Religion class at the Saragossa Day Retreat Center or at Meribah Retreat House. Additional overnight retreat experiences are offered at both Meribah and Founders Hollow.

Center
Located adjacent to the Activity-Athletic Center (AAC), Saragossa is Chaminade’s newest retreat house, completed in 2015. The house is named for Saragossa, Spain, the city where Blessed William Joseph Chaminade sought exile during the French Revolution and received the inspiration to form the Society of Mary at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Pillar.

Meribah is located on 15 acres in Muttontown, New York, just a short drive from campus. Meribah provides an atmosphere of quiet recollection that is most conductive to overnight retreats, days of recollection and workshops.

Founders Hollow sits on more than 100 acres of scenic property in upstate Accord, New York. It is named in honor of Father William Joseph Chaminade, founder of the Society of Mary.

Campus Ministry
Through frequent programs and events, the Campus Ministry department seeks to create opportunities for each student to grow in his relationship with Jesus, with the goal of shaping our young men as sons of Mary and authentic witnesses of Christ, His Gospel, and His Church.

Sacraments
Students and faculty celebrate Mass together monthly and at other times during the school year. Masses are typically held in the Activity-Athletic Center (AAC) and Darby Auditorium.
Confessions are available two mornings each week in the Chapel. Schoolwide Days of Reconciliation are held during Advent and Lent.

Students have the opportunity to receive the Eucharist at every school-wide Mass.
Prayer
A schoolwide prayer is broadcast in homeroom each morning. Teachers begin each class with a prayer. A Eucharistic adoration prayer service occurs at the beginning of every lunch period. Prayer services take place in Advent and Lent, and evenings of recollection are held for each division at various times during the year.

Eucharistic adoration is offered for all students before lunch every day.
Sodality
The Sodality of Our Lady of the Pillar, an organization with its roots in Blessed Chaminade’s time, gathers young men for weekly meetings to strengthen their relationships with Christ and each other. Students remain in their Sodality groups for all four years of their time at Chaminade.

A group of students in Sodality gathers in the chapel to share reflections.
