Honoring a brave serviceman on Veterans Day

Veterans Day has a special meaning today for the Nisco family. Back in August, freshman Antonio Nisco received notice from The National World War II Museum in New Orleans that his great grandfather would receive another accolade - this one posthumously.

Antonio's great grandfather, World War II Army veteran Anthony Galgano, was a platoon sergeant who fought in the Battle of the Bulge and lost his right hand and arm during service in Germany. He received a Purple Heart in the hospital soon after the incident.

Fast forward nearly 80 years, Sgt. Galgano’s prosthetic arm and hand, donated by his family, are now featured in The National World War II Museum’s newest exhibit. Antonio and his parents flew down to New Orleans earlier this month to attend the grand opening of the exhibit.

Check out some photos from their visit below. To all of our veterans, especially Sgt. Galgano and our Gold Star Alumni, we salute you on this Veterans Day! Thank you to our servicemen and women.
