Students in the Class of 2027 officially began their Chaminade journey on Monday, August 28, 2023. Freshmen and their parents were greeted on Saville Road by President Bro. Thomas Cleary, S.M. '81, and other faculty followed by an introduction and presentation from the school's administration on student life, activities, and what it means to be a Flyer.
Freshmen also received their iPads and locker assignments while parents had the opportunity to attend a social in the Activity-Athletic Center (AAC) hosted by the Parents Club. The Parents Club organizes many events and volunteer opportunities over the course of the school year in which parents can become involved.
The following three days, Tuesday-Thursday, marked the "traditional" 3-C Program. It is designed to instill community, confidence, and commitment in the Freshman Class before beginning the four-year journey as Flyers. Over 400 freshmen participated in academic classes, including those in math and writing, and athletic events. Homeroom 1B scored the championship trophy in field activities. Several Senior Leaders are assigned to each homeroom to act as mentors and help the freshmen become acclimated to their new school.
To conclude on Thursday, August 31, the freshmen gathered at Gold Star Stadium for a class photo and finished the program with snacks on Ott Field.
"3-C gives us the opportunity to meet our freshmen and welcome them to the Chaminade community," Director of Student Activities Bro. Thomas Terrill, S.M. '10 said of the program. "It's very exciting to see them start this lifelong journey as Flyers.
Welcome to Chaminade, Class of 2027! We look forward to welcoming you back for the start of classes on Wednesday, September 6.
