Academic Success Recognized at Assembly

Students were recognized for their achievements in the classroom during the 2017-2018 school year Thursday.

The annual Academic Awards Assembly highlights the success of Chaminade students. Several received special honors for the highest averages.

The John. T. Darby Award for the highest average in the junior year
Daniel Garcia '19, 100

The Albert Kozar Award for the highest averages in the sophomore year
Derek Lekhwani '20, Thomas McManus '20, Michael Samaritano '20; 99.83

The Louis J. Faerber Award for the highest averages in the freshman year
Owen Serkes '21, Callum Smith; 99.5

The Thomas Powers Award for the highest three-year average in the freshman, sophomore, and junior years
Daniel Garcia '19, 99.81

Pins were also presented to 214 seniors with an 89.5 average or higher for the third year. 210 juniors and 28 seniors received silver pins for earning an 89.5 average for the second time at Chaminade. Bronze pins were distributed to 234 sophomores, 16 juniors, and 14 seniors who attained an 8.9 average or higher for the first year.

Seniors in the National Honor Society were also recognized, and juniors were invited entry to the organization.

Seniors William Dean, Colin Dunn, Drew Kuroda, Michael Rinaldi, and Jacob Wood have qualified as semi-finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Nicolas Biondo, Matthew Meneses, David Mollon, Jose Pena, John Plumeri, and Michael Rinaldi were named as scholars in the National Hispanic Recognition Program.
