Chaminade sophomores, juniors, and seniors recognized and congratulated classmates Friday for their academic achievements.
Students whose average was higher than a 89.5 during the previous school year were named to the Honor Roll. Chaminade's chapter of the National Honor Society also gained new members from the junior class. Shawn Connell and Nicholas Plante were voted by their peers as president and vice president, respectively. Members of the National Honor Society assist with the operations of school events such as Open House, Masses, and service projects. Their averages are 85 or higher and devote their after-school time to at least two activities.
Special awards went to students with the most outstanding overall grades. Seniors Gavin Ford and Nick Plante received the John T. Darby Award for attaining the highest average in the previous year with a 99.9. Daniel Garcia earned the Albert Kozar Award for the highest sophomore average at 99.7. The Louis J. Faerber Award for the highest freshman average went to Liam Brown and Vincenzo Montoni; they both eanred a 99.7 average.
With a 99.9 three-year average, Shawn Connell '18 was given the Thomas J. Powers Award. It is reserved for the student with the highest overall grade in his freshman, sophomore, and junior years.
