A Perfect Day for Golf and Tennis!
Posted 06/28/2017 09:17AM

Very few days bring weather as nice as Monday for golf and tennis! The 47th annual Chaminade Golf and Tennis Open brought more than 600 people together to celebrate the mission, history, and future of the school.

Golfers and tennis players fanned out across five Long Island courses on June 26, including the Brookville Country Club in Old Brookville, The Creek Club in Lattingtown, Mill River Club in Oyster Bay, Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, and Wheatley Hills Golf Club in East Williston.

Following morning and early-afternoon play, guests gathered at Nassau for a cocktail hour, live auction, and dinner. For the first time this year, the Open also featured a silent auction where supporters could bid online.

"This highly anticipated event has grown exponentially from year to year," said Bill Basel '58, executive director of the Golf and Tennis Open. "It is a pleasure to see our alumni, parents, alumni parents, and friends choose to come back and give back, and have fun along the way."

Assistant Director of Alumni and Assistant Director of the Golf and Tennis Open Kevin Parente '82 noted, "Though it's a one-day event, we spend all year planning and developing the most enjoyable experience possible. The greatest reward for that work is the camaraderie we share with our players and guests."

Many volunteers gave their time to coordinating the day's events. Parents, current students, alumni, and alumni parents staffed registration tables, sold raffle tickets, and assisted with competitions on the course.

Several players ranked as winners in several categories at their respective locations:
